INFORMATION
LANDED IMMIGRANT
Upon arrival into Canada,
you will be required to present your Passport and Landed Resident Card. Canada
Customs will ask to see your Valued Inventory List as your goods to follow. A
“B4” (Personal Effects Accounting Document) will then be completed and your
inventory list will be stamped.
RETURNING RESIDENTS
Canada Customs will ask to
see your Valued Inventory, complete a B4 (Personal Effects Accounting Document)
and stamp your inventory. As well as your Passport, you will also be
required to present “Proof of Residency” Outside of Canada.
Acceptable documentation is a letter from an employer, rent receipt or hydro
bill. If you have
lived outside Canada for at least one year but less than five years, you must
have owned, possessed, and used your personal and household effects for at least
six months before you return to Canada to resume residence. If you have bills of
sale and registration documents, they can help you prove that you meet these
requirements

STUDENT OR WORK VISA
You will be required to show
Canada Customs your Valued Inventory as well as your Temporary
Visa and Passport.
INHERITANCE
You will need to provide a
Death Certificate and a Copy of the Will. Canada Customs will require a
copy of your Valued Inventory List as well as your Passport.
SEASONAL
You will be required to show Canada Customs a
copy of your Lease or Title to your Property In Canada, as well as your
Valued Inventory and Passport. Please see the Seasonal residents web

AUTOMOBILES
Any automobile or motorcycle
being imported into Canada from any country other than the U.S. must be 15 years
old or older, or be a returning Canadian vehicle.
The vehicle must meet the
requirements of the CBSA, Transport Canada and, the Canadian Food Inspection
Agency before it can be imported

ALCOHOL
May be imported into Canada
along with your household & personal effects. Please have a list of types and
sizes of bottles of wine and spirits. The duties and taxes are approximately
Cdn. $2.50/bottle for wine and Cdn. $8.00/bottle for spirits.
FIREARMS
Canada has strict guidelines
for importation of firearms.
You are required to declare
all firearms and weapons at customs when you enter Canada. If you do not declare
all firearms or weapons, Customs will seize them and you could face criminal
charges. You may need documents to prove that you are entitled to possess a
firearm in Canada, and you will have to transport it safely
