Is Vancouver the Best City in the World?

July 09, 2016

Here in the city of Vancouver, you’ll hear the locals wax poetic about all the best parts of our culture, architecture, parks and more. However, it’s not just us who are talking.

Around the world, Vancouver is being recognized as one of the best cities to live in, period.

According to Mercer’s 2016 Quality of Living Ranking, Vancouver is North America’s highest ranking city; placing number five around the world! This “news” is nothing new though – Vancouver took the same title both in 2014 and 2015.

Aspects of Vancouver living that help maintain this high-placing result include quality of medical care, cultural diversity and the city’s large network of parts.

More than 200 different public parks can be found within the region, giving families plenty of options for spending quality time outdoors.

Other factors that the survey takes into account include crime, freedom of press, education, housing, banking services and political stability.

Vancouver ranks behind only a few European capital cities and other ultra-modern metro areas for the top honors. The first overall choice by the Mercer survey was Vienna, a city that has reigned supreme in recent years, followed by Zurich, Auckland and Munich.
